LEARNING AT KNOLE
Knole offers an award-winning and diverse programme that supports learning across the curriculum. Whether it is facilitated by our knowledgeable team or self-led, Knole’ s Children and Young People Team can help plan a visit with opportunities for creative, engaging and interactive learning.
Why choose Knole for an educational visit? Knole is unique: a medieval, Tudor and Jacobean mansion with rare and precious items within its collection. It is set in the only remaining medieval deer park in Kent, so there are opportunities for learning in the parkland as well as inside in the education rooms and historic showrooms.
Facilitated Workshops The Children and Young People Team bring the past to life through workshops that include object handling, activities and practical exploration. Choose from:
• Stone Age to Iron Age
• Tudors- a local history exploration
• Second World War
• Conservation
• Geography
Self-led Visits Schools can plan their own trip to Knole to suit their programme of study, or we can supply selfled resources to help deliver a learning experience. Choose from:
• History: Discover the showrooms and courtyards at Knole.
• Science: Investigate nature in Knole’ s parkland.
Loan Boxes – bringing Knole to you Bring history to life in the classroom with our loan box service. The multi-sensory objects and activities allow for cross-curricular skills to be developed and can be linked to other topic work. Loan boxes are free to borrow; we just ask for a small returnable deposit. Choose from:
• Stone Age to Iron Age
• Power of Monarchy( Tudors and Victorians)
• First World War
• Second World War
