CHARLIE BOND EDITOR, WED IN KENT charlie @ sidewaysmedia. co. uk
I first joined the Sideways’ team in 2022, and am now lucky enough to be in my fourth year of writing about Kent’ s exciting wedding industry. In 2025 we launched Wed IN Kent magazine and my job is to help couples in Kent find inspiration, support and suppliers for their big day.
I’ ve lived in Kent my whole life( except for moving away to uni for a few years) and I feel very privileged to be able to call this lovely county home. I live in a small village you’ ve probably never heard of, but the Weald is my stomping ground and I spend a lot of time there mooching around the shops, getting coffee and finding all sorts of child-friendly activities in the area.
When I’ m not chasing after my two boys, I enjoy a glass of English wine or two at a local vineyard( and there’ s some amazing ones to choose from in Kent) and shopping; from charity shops to independent boutiques, I love to have a rummage and see what bargains I can find!
With February being the month of love, here’ s where you’ ll find me …

BEST OF KENT

TOP ROAST
I love a roast dinner( the more gravy the better!) and my current favourite spot for a really good roast is the Eight Bells in Hawkhurst. The pub is super cosy and the food is great- it’ s one of my top places to escape the winter weather and keep warm.
TOP WALK
I love getting out and about in the great outdoors. One of my favourite places to visit is Bedgebury Pinetum. It’ s beautiful at any time of year, but I think it’ s especially magical in the winter. We go there a lot as a family because there’ s always something to see and do there.
TOP VALENTINE’ S DATE
I think I’ ll be lucky if I get a card, but if I do get whisked off this Valentine’ s I’ d be quite happy with sharing plates of tapas and a bottle of wine at El Cortador in Folkestone. It does the best garlic prawns around... maybe not so great for a date night, but totally worth it!
