THE LOVE LIST: HEVER CASTLE

Set in 125 acres of idyllic Kent countryside, Hever Castle’ s rich and varied history provides the perfect romantic backdrop for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Tie the knot in style as the magic of this historic setting brings your wedding day dreams to life, creating treasured memories that you and your guests will cherish for a lifetime.

Discover centuries of history in the castle, once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I, before later passing into the ownership of another of Henry’ s wives: Anne of Cleves.
The scope for wedding opportunities on the estate is boundless. Whether it be the stately grandeur of the castle itself, the country house atmosphere of the Astor Wing, or the stunning lakeside location of the Italian Garden, Hever Castle offers an enchanting venue to suit all of your wedding day dreams throughout every season.
Castle ceremonies take place in the Castle Inner Hall surrounded by panelled walls, beautifully carved columns and an elaborate staircase gallery. A fine display of antique furniture and an exceptional collection of portraits depicting Tudor monarchs complete the space. The wedding breakfast is hosted in the Castle Great Hall, which is home to a minstrels’ gallery, fine wood panelling and an ornately carved stone fireplace. Solid oak tables and an ancient tapestry create a truly regal setting for your celebration.
The function space within the Astor Wing is formed of three interconnecting rooms known as the Tudor Suite. Oak-panelled throughout and surrounded by private lawns, the Tudor Suite offers unparalleled views of the castle, moat and gardens.
Ceremonies are held in the Tudor Suite Sitting Room, with beautiful views over the castle and moat. Drinks receptions can take place in the Music Room or, weather permitting, on the Tudor Suite lawns overlooking the castle. Wedding breakfasts are held in the Tudor Suite Dining Room, a classic oak panelled room offering stunning chandeliers and an ornately carved Clipsham-stone working fireplace.
One of the most magnificent areas of the gardens at Hever Castle is the Italian
Garden, which was created to display William Waldorf Astor’ s collection of Italian sculpture. Summer months see this awardwinning garden come to life as ceremonies take place under the beautiful arched columns of the Italian Loggia overlooking the lake. A short walk through the Rose Garden is the Guthrie Pavilion, which plays host to an Italian Garden wedding reception. Extensively refurbished in Palladian style, its vaulted ceilings and fulllength arched windows create a light-filled and elegant setting.
For a marquee wedding reception, Hever Castle offers the beautiful Winter Garden Lawn, a private lawn located by the side of the moat with spectacular views overlooking the castle.
Couples planning their dream wedding are invited to Hever Castle’ s Wedding Showcase on 8 February 2026. Explore the awardwinning venues, meet trusted suppliers and speak with the wedding team to bring your vision to life.
