AN EXCITING NEW CHAPTER FOR ANGELA’ S, MARGATE
Seafood restaurant Angela’ s, Margate, is set to expand in March 2026, marking an exciting new chapter for the locally loved dining spot. The restaurant will be taking over the neighbouring Number One High Street, which is currently home to Café G.
The expansion does, however, mean the closure of Angela’ s sister venue- Dory’ s- the intimate seafood bar overlooking Margate Main Sands. While this will be a loss for locals and visitors alike, diners are reassured that Dory’ s signature raw, pickled and cured seafood dishes will become part of the new, larger Angela’ s restaurant.
Although located around the corner from each other, the two sites have always been viewed as part of the same concept. Angela’ s came first, quickly earning a Green Star for Sustainability thanks to its locally sourced seafood and lowwaste approach. Dory’ s followed later as a complementary venue pairing shellfish with a list of English and European organic wines.
By bringing both concepts together under one roof, the expansion promises to create a stronger food hub on Margate’ s Parade.
A FRESH LOOK FOR LOCAL FAVOURITE, MANOR FARM BARN
Independent family brewer and pub company Shepherd Neame has completed a £ 60,000 refurbishment of Manor Farm Barn, Southfleet.
Originally an 18th-century threshing barn, it was extensively restored in 2001, creating Britain’ s first 21st-century thatched pub and winning a CAMRA Pub Design Award.
The refurbishment was aimed at blending its agricultural origins with a contemporary look complete with new lighting, décor and furnishings to complement the natural oak timbers and to create an atmospheric space for customers to dine in.
The ground floor features historic farming artefacts including ploughs, presses and two 19th-century threshing boards- originally used to separate cereals from their straw- to reflect the barn’ s past. Outside, the swing sign, depicting a farm worker with a pitchfork and ale in hand to honour the pub’ s heritage, has been refreshed and wooden barrels have been transformed into planters positioned around the new pergola at the pub’ s entrance- all aligning with the pub’ s sustainable project focus.
“ We are really pleased with the results of this refurbishment project,” said retail operations director, Shane Godwin.“ Manor Farm Barn is a unique space and our aim with this investment was to celebrate and showcase its history and character while creating a comfortable, stylish environment for customers to enjoy.”
MOOT BREW CO. TO SHOWCASE ITS ALE IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
Following the collaboration of Lauren Edwards MP, Moot Brew Co. and House of Commons staff, Moot Brewery- a popular brewery based in Halling, Rochester- will soon be on tap in the Palace of Westminster. Moot’ s‘ Plush’, an American Pale Ale, will be served in the Strangers’ Bar over the winter period giving parliament a taste of Kent and Medway’ s independent brewing scene.
“ As a small independent brewery, having our beer showcased in parliament is a real privilege for our team and an opportunity to put the village of Halling on the map,” said Moot Brew Co. director, Patrick Smith.
“ We’ re grateful for the continued support from our local MP, whose passion for championing independent breweries and other local enterprises means a great deal to businesses like ours. Plush represents the craftsmanship and commitment to quality that drives everything we do at Moot Brewery and we’ re thrilled to share a pint of it with Westminster.” www. insidekent. co. uk • 89
