It’ s Christmas with a difference at the Gulbenkian Arts Centre this year, with live performance, music and film to get your festive feelings flowing.
On stage, Vincent Franklin( The Thick of It, Happy Valley) stars in this new adaptation of A Christmas Carol, drawn from Dickens’ own performance script. Franklin brings to life the world’ s most infamous miser, four ghosts and more than 20 other characters in this much-loved tale.

You can also enjoy Scrooge on screen as we present the classic 1951 Alastair Sim film, Scrooge, with an enchanting, newly orchestrated live score performed by the three-piece FB Pocket Orchestra. In Scrooge Live, the reimagined music, atmospheric sound effects and seamless synchronisation with the film will immerse you in Scrooge’ s journey with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.
For something completely different, join us for‘ Canterbury’ s campest Christmas’ as legendary London drag group The LipSinkers present all your favourite Christmas hits as you’ ve never seen them before in The LipSinkers: We’ ve Got Christmas Knits.
Families will love our Christmas show, Dear Santa, bringing Rod Campbell’ s much-loved book to the stage in a christmassy delight for all ages. Santa is determined to deliver the most fantastic Christmas present to Sarah, but he doesn’ t get it right straight away! With the help of his cheeky elf, he finally settles on something‘ perfect’ just in time for Christmas Eve.
The Christmas cheer continues with the opportunity to meet Santa in his grotto after the show, where every child will receive an extra special gift! The perfect family show that will be enjoyed by all this festive season.
