WELCOME
There’ s something about September that always feels like a reset button- the long lazy days of summer( and chorus of“ I’ m bored, can I have another snack”) start to soften, the air grows crisper and suddenly cosy throws, hearty suppers and the promise of new beginnings feel just right.
September also marks one of our biggest issues of the year, our second educational special. Like many of you, my household is in the deep thick of it – waving one child off to university while supporting another through Kent Test prep, I feel it with you! Regardless of whether or not you’ re facing big school decisions, we’ ve filled this issue with stories of success, challenge, support and inspiration to encourage whatever learning journey you may be on, including some quirky Kent facts. After all who doesn’ t love a pub-quiz-worthy fact or two to pull out at the right moment? insideKENT Magazine is published by Sideways Media Ltd, Sideways Studios, Unit 3 Eden Business Centre, South Stour Avenue, Ashford, Kent, TN23 7RS

Beyond the books, this month is also about the simple joys of the seasonal shift. We’ re exploring Autumn Traditions for those perfect golden days out, plus One Day Adventures designed for when time is short but the spirit of adventure runs high. And for those who want to linger longer, don’ t miss our round up of staycation spots Amongst the Leaves – a celebration of rural retreats that make the most of autumn’ s beauty.
Of course, September in Kent means one thing above all else: harvest season. This month we bring you Last of the Summer Wine, with stories straight from the vine and a toast to some of the year’ s most notable wine winners. But it’ s not just about grapes, we’ re also raising a glass to Kent’ s other renowned tipples in Hops & Apples & Beer- Oh My!, a celebration of our county’ s beloved cider, beer, lager and ale.
And because we know our readers love to wander, we’ ve also ventured beyond the county on a wine mission, bringing you our reviews of the lush Leonardslee in Sussex and the simply stunning Château Capitoul in Narbonne.
As always, you’ ll also find the latest in home trends, a dose of health and wellness wisdom and inspiring stories from some of Kent’ s top businesses, including this month’ s venture into a very special icecream-filled kitchen with Phil Harrison at Bears Ice Cream Imaginarium- just wow!
So, here’ s to a September of new beginnings, autumnal adventures and perhaps a large glass of something Kentish too!
Cheers, Kent!
