Hop House & Kitchen
From Hop Kiln to Taproom: A Heritage Brewed Onsite
Nestled among rows of flourishing hop bines in the Kent Countryside, our taproom is more than just a place to enjoy a fresh pint— it’ s a living piece of brewing history. Once an active oast house, this building played a vital role in the region’ s rich agricultural past, where the earthy aroma of drying hops once filled the air during harvest season.
Lovingly restored and repurposed, the original structure now serves as a warm, inviting taproom— honoring its roots while offering a fresh experience for beer lovers. You can enjoy sights of the brewery from a large glass window in the taproom. High, wood-beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork, and vintage details speak to its storied past, while state-of-theart brewing equipment just steps away connects visitors directly to the craft.
What makes our beer truly unique is the land itself. The hops used in some of our beer are grown right here, surrounding the taproom in vibrant green each season. These homegrown hops go straight from bine to brew, capturing the terroir of the region in every glass.
Whether you’ re here for a crisp pale ale or a bold, seasonal IPA, you’ re tasting beer that’ s not only brewed onsite— but rooted in a tradition that goes back generations. You can find the taproom & brewery amongst Hukins Hops, a hop farm that’ s been in the family for over 100 years.

Steph is a lettering artist based in Dorset, originally from Kent. Creative from a young age, she experimented with many crafts before discovering calligraphy in 2019. Since then, she has honed her skills to offer workshops, sign-writing, and most recently, large-scale murals.
Her first mural project came in May 2025, when Maddy and Keith from McCanns Brewery invited her to bring their vision to life. Over six weekends, Steph travelled from Dorset to Kent, gradually transforming the brewery walls into a vibrant artwork that reflects both the business and its best brews in its very unique setting as the only taproom built on a hop farm. The project was met with enthusiasm from staff, customers, and visitors alike, who watched the mural evolve.
