Folkestone Harbour’ s beloved take on the popular German holiday will once again transform the hotspot’ s Goods Yard into a Bavarian Wünderland this September for three weekends of steins, sausages and singalongs.
Kicking off its first weekend on Saturday 20 September, with a final hurrah planned for Sunday 5 October, this free-admission Germanic extravaganza promises heaps of community camaraderie and plenty of delicious beers and German street food favourites- from bratwurst to pretzels, traditional Bavarian beer and joyous showcases from the much-loved Oompah Band who will be performing every Saturday from 1pm.

This time last year I joined the iK team and, wow, what a journey it’ s been! Even though I’ ve lived in Kent my whole life, I’ m still amazed by the incredible treasures our county is home to. My favourite part of my role as a digital marketing apprentice is heading out each month to film our insideGUIDE content and meeting the passionate people behind Kent’ s outstanding businesses.
When I’ m not busy in the office or out filming content, you’ ll often find me in the theatre, whether watching a show or even stepping onto the stage myself. If there’ s a musical touring Kent, I’ m usually first in line for tickets!
Outside of the arts, I love stretching my legs and taking my dog for walks in the beautiful countryside or along the coastline. Our favourite walk is along New Romney Beach, with a stop at Littlestone-On-Sea to relax with a drink and a good book( me, not the dog!).

TOP ENTERTAINMENT I’ m a true theatre lover at heart but it’ s not just about watching a show, it’ s about the atmosphere too. The Orchard Theatre in Dartford has crafted this perfectly with its intimate setting and comfortable seating. I’ m often found sitting in awe here with my friends and family. |
TOP OUTDOORS A go-to outdoor spot has to be Samphire Hoe- a true hidden gem. Home to an array of wildlife and a peaceful beachfront, it’ s perfect for walks with the dog and family picnics; even on a cold autumn day, it’ s still beautiful. |
TOP DAY OUT For a day out with friends, Margate has it all! First stop: Lost Island Adventure Golf for the best competitive games( which I definitely always win …), then a quick stop at Lulu’ s Gelato for some mouthwatering ice cream- mango sorbet is the only choice- before heading to Pomus for a catch up over drinks. |
