THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER Rising high above the English Channel, Dover’ s captivating cliffs have formed over millions of years, preserving a remarkably accessible and complete record of the story of chalk formation. To soak up the natural beauty of the cliffs at their best, plan a picturesque ramble along the coastal path towards South Foreland Lighthouse, marvelling at the pretty chalk grassland home to many unusual plants and wildlife along the way.
SAMPHIRE HOE Racking up an impressive collection of Green Flag awards for its outstanding commitment to biodiversity, Samphire Hoe is a breathtaking 30-hectare nature reserve created during the construction of the Eurotunnel and managed by the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership. Home to over 200 species of plants and 220 species of birds, this enchanting stretch of landscape offers ramblers the chance to admire a wealth of flora and fauna, and astounding views out to sea.
KEARSNEY ABBEY A wonderful historic park with 10 acres of pretty parkland waiting to be explored. Featuring a children’ s play area, accessible facilities and a dogfriendly café serving up light bites and tasty homebaked goods, Kearsney also encompasses two ornamental lakes on the course of the River Dour.
