GOLF DAY RAISES RECORD £ 22,000 FOR LOCAL CHILDREN’ S CHARITY
MHS Homes Group have announced that their annual charity golf day raised a record £ 22,000 for Child’ s Vision, a Kent-based charity supporting children who have witnessed or been affected by domestic abuse. More than 130 golfers across 34 teams battled it out on the fairways of Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Golf Club, with Highview Group being crowned the overall winners on the day. Other competitions and prizes included a long drive contest, closest to the pin, beat the pro and even a chance to win £ 10,000 by hitting a hole-in-one.
Marie-Claire Delbrouque, MHS Homes chief executive, said:“ Thank you to everyone who took part and to those who generously sponsored the event in aid of such an important cause. Every child deserves to live free from fear and abuse and we’ re proud to be partnering with a charity that’ s making a real difference locally. Our original fundraising target for the year was £ 20,000, so to hit this already is just incredible. We’ ll continue our fundraising efforts to help Child’ s Vision provide essential support services in our communities.”
SILVER GILT SUCCESS FOR HADLOW COLLEGE AT RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW
Hadlow College has bloomed once again at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year, taking home a prestigious Silver Gilt medal for its imaginative and educational exhibit, No Such Thing as a Toadstool. Building on last year’ s bronze medal, the 2025 exhibit grabbed the attention of visitors and judges with its bold, thought-provoking exploration of fungi and their vital role in the natural world. The immersive display drew on the rich diversity of fungal forms and functions, demonstrating how these often-overlooked organisms are key to everything from ecosystem health to future innovations in sustainability and medicine.
Set within a woodland-inspired backdrop, the exhibit featured a range of plants and edible mushrooms- all plants grown at Hadlow College- and engaged visitors with the ecological, medicinal and industrial importance of fungi. The title No Such Thing as a Toadstool reflects the scientific perspective that all fungi form part of a broader, complex web of life, regardless of their edibility.
KENT NHS TRUST SCOOPS NATIONAL DIGITAL INNOVATION AWARD FOR REVOLUTIONISING RECRUITMENT
With the construction and planting of the exhibit involving students at every stage, Alan Harvey, Hadlow College’ s head of curriculum for horticulture and floristry, said:“ At Hadlow College we are proud of the fact that our students get to work on such amazing projects as RHS Chelsea 2025.”
Colleagues at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust( KCHFT) can now add‘ national health heroes’ to their title after scooping a digital innovation award for transforming how quickly new staff are recruited. A team of human resources and IT professionals were recognised by the Skills for Health: Our Health Heroes Awards for leading the way and using process automation( RPA) to create a‘ bot’, which reduces the time it takes to hire employees and improve the onboarding experience for new colleagues.
Automating processes and reducing the admin burden on colleagues in recruitment, since the bots arrival, KCHFT has released 24,177 hours of time back to the team; the equivalent of more than 12 full time posts and £ 325,000.
Accepting the award on behalf of the team, Sarah Hayden, director of people operations at KCHFT, said:“ It is no secret that recruitment is one of the biggest challenges facing the NHS and we felt passionately about improving how quickly we could bring new talent into the organisation. Coupled with the need to spend public money wisely and the opportunities new technology offers us to improve and innovate, automation has been an exciting and productive step towards the future.”
