NATIVE PLANTING
Driven by sustainability, but with a new growing desire for biodiversity, gardeners this year are presenting an avid interest in natural, native beauties that will not only contribute to local ecosystems, but also thrive in the unpredictable climates – we’ re basically looking for plants that grow well, whatever our current weather. There’ s a clear shift this year toward low-maintenance, resilient plant types that don’ t just survive but thrive, as well as actively supporting pollinators, enriching the soil and offering longterm value to the eco-system.
“ This style leans into how plants grow in the wild – with repetition, rhythm and gentle contrasts rather than formal, rigid structure. We use a base palette of grasses such as calamagrostis or panicum, layered with long-flowering perennials like echinacea, salvia, helenium and verbena bonariensis. These combinations offer movement, seasonal variation and a softer transition between built and planted elements.”
