ART IN JUNE KENT FIRES UP!
Across the rolling fields and hills of Kent, the Eden Valley and High Weald artists’ studios will be open to the public from Friday 6 June – Sunday 22 June, with a wonderful array of local talent on display.
From Sevenoaks to the Surrey borders, studios will come together for the annual Art In June Kent show, now in its eighth year. This year, 85 artists will be exhibiting across 22 studios, with works ranging from oils, watercolours, pastels and drawings to pottery, jewellery and photography.
Working as an artist or craftsperson can be lonely at times and Art in June Kent helps people connect, not only with other artisans but also, most importantly, with the public. Almost all work is for sale and as there’ s no commission to pay, so buyers can add to their collections at a fraction of the cost of purchasing from a commercial gallery.
Studios are also a magnet for art lovers keen to know where art comes from.
The studio is the crucible- it’ s where the alchemical process begins- and the many sketchbooks on display allow a glimpse into this process.
Some of the studios are also linked together to create walks and cycling tours, and most offer refreshments. Many studios run demonstrations and workshops for visitors to watch or even join in. Maybe you will find yourself inspired to pursue a craft or art and become part of the blossoming Art in June Kent community next year.
Fully illustrated brochures, with a map showing all the studios alongside opening times, are widely available free of charge from local shops and other venues.
