AMAZING GLAZE
HYTHE

Hello my name is Evie Towse. In the holidays I went pottery painting at Amazing Glaze in Hythe with my aunty and it was super fun. It’ s really cosy and arty in there with lots of paintings on the walls, tables and chairs like a cafe and colour charts to help you.

When you first arrive at Amazing Glaze the lady says you can choose an item that you want to paint. You can choose from doughnuts, dinosaurs, animals, pots, stars, love hearts, plates, bowls and all sorts of things. I chose a doughnut pot and a potion bottle.
Next, you have to choose your colours from a basket of paints on the table. I chose pinks, purples and a few blues because they are my favourite colours. Then you can grab a paintbrush and create a masterpiece! You can do patterns, flowers, sprinkles, stripes, swirls or whatever you like.
I painted my doughnut pot cream, with ice-cream coloured sprinkles, and my potion bottle pink with a purple love heart. My aunty painted her bowl with blue stripes and yellow and pink flowers. It was so pretty!
When you’ re finished painting your three layers of colour, you put your name on the bottom and hand it in ready to be glazed and fired. You can collect them in a few weeks.
I loved it at Amazing Glaze because I got to be creative and arty, which are my favourite things.
Afterwards we went for lunch- there’ s loads of lovely cafes in Hythe to choose from; we love The Nutmeg for yummy cakes.
I love my new pots and have put them in my bedroom ready to be filled with treasures!
Pottery Painting starts at £ 7.50 per person and you can find Amazing Glaze on Facebook- Amazing Glaze Pottery Painting.

Each month, The Gulbenkian offers relaxed screenings that are open to all, where films are screened in a relaxed, safe, comfortable and inclusive environment. Subtle changes include low level lights, the absence of trailers and advertisements, and an increased allowance for levels of movement and noise during the screening. For those interested in what else The Gulbenkian has to offer, their Access Scheme is free to join for people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities and more information on this can be found on their website. www. insidekent. co. uk • 45
