This collaborative community festival will feature a model railway exhibition celebrating Ashford’ s contribution and railway legacy in the bicentenary year of UK railways, a photographic exhibition, museum open days, children’ s activities and a beer festival. Expect over 40 model railway layouts and displays, model railway traders and heritage societies throughout the event. A quiet hour from 9.30am- 10.30am on Sunday will welcome carers and visitors needing accessibility and disability support.

Led by documentary photographer Edward Thompson, this unique workshop offers the rare opportunity to create an original one-off portrait shot using a high-quality large format camera. Each ticket gives you a 15-minute session where you’ ll get to make two black and white portraits on large format positive photographic paper. For those looking to get hands-on throughout the process, there’ ll also be the chance for you to become the photographer of your group with assistance from Edward. Development of pictures and post is included in the ticket price; pre-booking is essential.
