Tell us a bit about the expansion to The Woodfire Kitchen ? In 2020 Andrew and I decided it was time to bring our idea of The Woodfire Kitchen to life in the beer garden of our pub , The East Kent in Whitstable . We were thrilled by its success so last year , when the opportunity came up in Harbour Street , we just knew the time was right to relocate and expand our business to this iconic spot in Whitstable .
What sets The Woodfire Kitchen apart from its competitors ? Firstly , we have the only woodfired oven in Whitstable which gives that beautiful charred flavour . Also , many of our ingredients are authentic Italian and all of our sauces and dishes are made from scratch - we ’ ve had great feedback saying you can taste the freshness in the pizzas . There is also a lot of theatre within the restaurant and the open kitchen where customers can see the dough being flared in the air .
What are you most proud of ? That the restaurant turned out exactly how we imagined it , with hard work from Andrew doing the renovation and my choices of interior design and menu . I must also mention our amazing team , of which I ’ m very proud – they bring the whole TWK experience to life .
What would be your advice to women in business ? Embrace the opportunity to grow and continually innovate what you do . Stay true to what you believe and don ’ t doubt yourself . Never stop learning from those around you and believe in your team . Do what you love and that will shine through . Running a business is demanding but always make sure you have time for your family , too .
