SPRING INTO ACTION :
HADLOW COLLEGE ’ S LAMBING WEEKEND RETURNS !
With the days getting longer , the temperatures getting warmer and the countryside slowly bursting into life , it can only mean one thing – spring is finally here !
And the arrival of spring also signifies the return of one of the South East ’ s most popular events , Hadlow College ’ s Lambing Weekend , which takes place on 26 and 27 April .
Every year over 10,000 people visit the college for the opportunity to see an abundance of newborn lambs gambolling around the college ’ s beautiful fields and to visit the lambing sheds for the chance to see a newborn enter the world .
And while the lambs take centre stage , you can also see the many other animals the college looks after , which range from pygmy goats to meerkats , and pay a visit to the National Centre for Reptile Welfare , which provides refuge and care for over 1,000 unwanted and vulnerable reptiles and amphibians .
In fact , the weekend brings together a range of land-based activities and offers the opportunity to learn more about Hadlow College and explore the stunning surroundings of Kent ’ s only rural and landbased college .
Other highlights of the weekend include :
• Tractor trailer rides ( weather permitting )
• Talks and demonstrations by the National Centre for Reptile Welfare
• A birds of prey display
• The Sheep Show
• Archery
• The opportunity to speak with our Advice & Guidance Team and Curriculum Areas
• Food and drink stalls
• Arts and crafts events
• Fun fair rides and stalls
• Much more !
Chris Lydon , campus principal for Hadlow College , says : “ This is always a fantastic weekend and it is a real privilege to be able to bring the community into our college to get an idea of what we offer . We provide a huge range of courses across many landbased sectors and this weekend showcases our first-class facilities and the high calibre of students we produce . We look forward to welcoming you !”
A family ticket , which permits entry for two adults and up to three children costs £ 32 , an adult ticket ( aged 17 +) costs £ 14 , and child and concessionary tickets ( for anyone over the age of 65 and carers and students with a valid ID ) cost £ 10 . Children under the age of two can enter for free .
Once you are on site you can stay for as long as you like and enjoy the rides , stalls and even meet some lovely newborn lambs !
