LORNA MORRIS iK DESIGN DIRECTOR lorna @ sidewaysmedia . co . uk
Having lived in Kent my whole life , aside from a short stint away for university , it brings me great joy to work on a title celebrating the Best of Kent™ and sharing it with both residents of and visitors to our beautiful and fascinating county , so joining the Sideways Media team in 2019 was a no-brainer . Originally I was designing adverts for insideKENT but have since been involved with other titles ( Kent Staycation and A Kentish Ceremony ) and have taken on more responsibility on iK itself including a redesign for 2024 and becoming its design director . I love the puzzle of designing pages in the magazine - making it look good as well as being reader-friendly - and I have really enjoyed being an integral part of the evolution of its look over the past few years .
When I am not working on the magazines I can generally be found pottering in the garden at home , playing tennis at my local club in Hythe , reading ( I love a good book ), exploring the world ( travel is a great love of mine ), dabbling with some artsy crafty project ( currently I ’ m knitting a shawl ), or spending time with my wonderful family and friends - usually with a cold glass of something Kentish in hand .

TOP DINING Rocksalt in Folkestone is my absolute favourite for a meal out . My go-to order being their mussels and chips with a ‘ Starboard ’ cocktail on the side ( gin not vodka though please !). |
TOP OUTDOORS I love the walk ( or cycle !) from Hythe to Folkestone along the seafront , with the reward of something tasty to eat and drink from the Harbour Arm at the end . Living in Lympne it ’ s now less fun getting home with the challenge of Lympne Hill ( iykyk )! |
TOP ART Kent has a HUGE creative scene and I am always blown away by the talent on offer countywide . I am excited for the Folkestone Triennial happening this summer and seeing which works are going to be added to the already impressive collection . |
