HOME + GARDEN
An open front door plus wind plus miscellaneous leaflets and post spells chaos ! If you have a console table in the hall , opt for baskets or felt trays , or keep a drawer just for the leaflets you think you ’ ll use . Alternatively , opt for a mirror which has a built in shelf behind it ; that way you can keep flyers and post at hand but they ’ re unlikely to be blown around .
THE LIVING ROOM – rediscover a relaxing haven
Living rooms should be a relaxing haven at the end of a busy day but a cluttered room can mess with your mind as well as your space . Keep storage stylish , compact , and multi-functional . You don ’ t need to use your living room as a storeroom , but it ’ s handy to have items that serve a dual purpose such as side tables with storage for magazines and blankets .
That frustrating sofa dive for the missing remote can be avoided by repurposing a wicker organiser or better still a stylish remote holder , and if you ’ re a busy household with kids , choose toy storage that blends into your décor rather than turns your stylish curated oasis into a funfair of colour .
THE SPARE BEDROOM – maximise your extra space
If you ’ ve had guests staying over the festive break , it ’ s likely the spare room might need a quick declutter !
Use underbed storage for clothes , bags and belts or spare bed linen and towels . Plastic options with rollers are useful as is vacuum storage if there isn ’ t much room under the bed . Equally , back of the door storage is excellent for shoes or toiletries and is a really effective underused space for storage if you don ’ t mind everything on show !
Wardrobe and drawer dividers are also very handy for when guests return if you ’ re offering them half your wardrobe and drawers for them to unpack their things into – this always makes a stay a little more home-from-home , too .

insideKENT ’ S SIMPLE STEPS TO DECLUTTER YOUR SPACE IN 2025
STRIDE INTO PROGRESS
Once we commit to the necessary decluttering of our homes and strive to put sustainable systems in place , we can often become overwhelmed with the task at hand and become unsure of where to even begin . Therefore , our first and most vital step is to break it down , put a plan in place for the weeks ahead ( particularly when working around a hectic daily routine !) and start section by section … Rome wasn ’ t built in a day , you know !
START FROM THE TOP
Once your section has been chosen , it ’ s time to empty it entirely and clearly lay out all of your belongings into categories .
This is also the time to wipe down surfaces , hoover and disinfect ready for items to be restocked once again .
MAKE THOUGHTFUL SELECTIONS
When looking to decrease the amount of items you own , it ’ s important to remember that we must only keep belongings that we love and really need in order to reap the benefits of space serenity . When was the last time you used the item ? Does it still serve a purpose in your home ?
REUSE & RECYCLE
Once you have put to one side the items you no longer need , it ’ s imperative that these are removed swiftly and sent to their rightful homes before the decluttered piles of doom start to take over your spaces . Opt to donate to charity and offer to friends and family to be loved once again or diligently recycle any reusable materials .
OPTIMAL ORGANISATION
Now for the fun part ! Make the perfect storage selections for various purposes around your home and neatly organise items into categories - keeping in mind how often certain items are used and how you can access them most efficiently .
