LUCY & YAK CONTINUES EXPANSION WITH NEW SHOP OPENING IN CANTERBURY
The socially and environmentally conscious lifestyle brand Lucy & Yak has announced the opening of a new shop - their 11th ! - in Canterbury . Located on the bustling high street , Lucy & Yak ’ s signature pink-painted storefront welcomed its first customers on Friday 25 October with the opportunity to explore their latest releases and core collections .
RADNOR HOUSE SEVENOAKS ’ PUPILS AWARDED A PRESTIGIOUS ECO- SCHOOLS ’ GREEN FLAG
Students at Radnor House Sevenoaks have once again received international accreditation for their exceptional work in promoting sustainability and raising environmental awareness amongst their peers .
The Eco-Schools ’ programme follows a seven-step framework , with a studentled Eco Committee that encourages young people to explore a variety of environmental issues before spearheading environmental action in their school and local community .
Having been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag award with distinction two years in a row since 2022 , this year ’ s pupils focused on three key issues : healthy living , school grounds and waste , hosting a ‘ Reduce , Reuse , Recycle ’ poster competition and creating a bottle top mural of the school ’ s ‘ Eco Promise ’.
Speaking about their achievements , Miss Alice Newick at Radnor House Sevenoaks , said : “ It has been a privilege to work with the Eco Committee to make dynamic changes within our school that will have a positive impact on our world . The pupils have inspired me and many other members of staff to protect and care for our planet .”
This new shop is part of Lucy & Yak ’ s overall ambition to have a greater physical presence across the UK , providing more opportunities for face-to-face interactions with the Lucy & Yak community .
Each of their shops also aims to act as a PreLoved hub , promoting their circularity initiatives including their buyback scheme while serving as a space for customers to recycle , repair or upcycle their clothes . Commenting on the Canterbury opening , Lucy Greenwood , co-founder of Lucy & Yak , said : “ The new space will be another hub for creativity and community , giving us a chance to engage with our customers in person - we ’ ve absolutely loved meeting you all .”
THE FOURTH WALK TONBRIDGE FESTIVAL RAISES NEARLY £ 37,000
The fourth Walk Tonbridge Festival ( 14 to 29 September 2024 ) has raised nearly £ 37,000 for charities including Make Birth Better , Stocks Green Pre-School , Hospice in the Weald and the National Autistic Society , with close to £ 15,000 being donated to the Tonbridge food and fuel bank , Sustain .
Sponsored since its launch by the Tunbridge Wells-based law firm CooperBurnett LLP , the ‘ celebration of walking , Tonbridge , community and countryside ’ was organised by James Pavlou , founder of Walk Tonbridge .
The highlight of the festival - which included a variety of guided walks and fringe events - was the 26.2 mile Walk Tonbridge Marathon on Sunday 22 September . Emma Lander , community lead at Sustain , said : “ I am in awe of the amount of work and passion that went into making the Walk Tonbridge Marathon such an enormous success . The route was so well thought out and the volunteers at the checkpoints were just amazing , making the whole experience so very special and enjoyable .” www . insidekent . co . uk • 207
