PETTS WOOD AND HAWKWOOD The eastern part of Petts Wood , the Willett Memorial Wood , became a part of the National Trust in 1927 , with The Hawkwood Estate and the remainder of the woodland donated 30 years later . Today , ramblers can revel in the estate ’ s natural beauty and discover key points of interest on a scenic circular walking trail throughout this peaceful haven for birds , butterflies , amphibians and plant life .
SCADBURY PARK NATURE RESERVE Free to explore and run by passionate charity , The Friends of Scadbury Park , who are determined to protect the reserve ’ s outstanding biodiversity , Scadbury Park lies upon the eastern edge of the town and stretches across 300 acres of blossoming countryside . Holding a rich medieval past and bursting with thriving wildlife , the park also showcases many ancient trees and is loved throughout the community for its idyllic setting .
CHISLEHURST COMMONS An enchanting spot for woodland walks , bike rides and family picnics , the Commons comprise 180 acres of woods , grassland and several ponds throughout the town and are home to many rare species of plants as well as birds , reptiles and small mammals .
