Founded by Joely Hogarty in 2017 , Hogwood House started as an idea one Friday evening on a commute home from work in London after working a very stressful 60-hour week .
A kitchens and interiors company with a difference , their bespoke kitchens and furniture are handmade in Kent to the highest quality . Each project is personalised to the individual client .
They started their journey in their first studio near Canterbury and in mid-2023 , moved to their new premises in Sandwich .
As a family , they have always loved Sandwich and have many happy memories of the town , so naturally it felt right to move their business there ; Sandwich has a really great feel to it , a great community and support for independent retailers .
Recently , they ’ ve expanded their showroom on Strand Street to double the size of their original shop and are very excited to show their new space to both the local community and to visitors from outside Kent , too .
Hogwood House has now grown to a strong team of eight and still prides itself on being a family run company .
Can you talk us through one of your favourite recent projects ? At the start of the year , we got to work on an amazing period property in Sandwich . The customer had great taste and trusted us completely with our bold but traditional ideas . We paired black in-frame cabinetry with marble surfaces and polished brass accents for a classic and classy result .
What ’ s your must-have kitchen gadget ? It has to be a Quooker ( the world ’ s first
100 ° C boiling water tap ). They really are amazing and make office or home tea / coffee addiction a lot easier to handle !
What kind of kitchens are popular at the moment ? We have found traditional in-frame furniture is really popular at the moment ; it is so in keeping with the beautiful period houses in Sandwich .
Biggest tip when picking a kitchen style ? Always take into consideration when your house was built . Kitchens and built-in furniture should complement your home and its original charm .
