LONDON
Next came the quinoa risotto . This drier , crumb-textured risotto packed with delicate flavour sat atop miso-glazed squash , topped again with slivers of pickled red onion and crispy kale leaves .
Ceviche Ecuatoriano followed . The delicately plated lime-cured cod dish packed with flavours of heritage tomato , coriander and rocoto chilli leche de tigre a complete juxtaposition to the originally upholstered runway of tube seats now hosting an increasingly engaged supperclub crowd .
We paused only to top up flowing glasses of perfectly chilled Estival 2022 , a delicious Urguanian white made with gewürztraminer , chardonnay and moscato bianco . Initial flavour hits of peach , apricot and stone fruit gave way to zestier zings of citrus as the semi-dry pick from Pablo Fallabrino perfectly paired with each dish ( and for a reasonable £ 27 a bottle ).
As conversations ( and wine ) flowed , the fourth dish appeared , delivered with theatrical flourish from under a glass cloche ( no mean feat on a densely packed tube !) to reveal a rolled saddle of lamb with roasted potato topped with yellow chilli mash , sweetheart cabbage and served with lashings of ocopa sauce to be poured as you wish .
The pre-dessert offered a welcome palate cleanse courtesy of a lulo parfait - made from a Latin American fruit nicknamed ‘ little orange ’ but more green tomato in
its inner appearance ! The coconut snow accompaniment proved the dish triumph .
To the serenades of fellow diners singing a raucous happy birthday to our guest diner ( immediately noted by the ever observant Supperclub team who appeared with chocolate inscribed birthday message plate and candles in seconds ), we hungrily demolished the final dish . Named by my now kindred spirit Bea , ‘ My Favourite Things ’, it was just that . Rich moist chocolate cake , a light whipped chocolate and coffee mousse , and a crispy wonton which , when cracked , unveiled the most incredible dulce de leche ; all offset with uchuva and pineapple compote and each plate scraped clean .
Offering a cracking atmosphere , dim lighting and a cleverly curated playlist that carries you seamlessly from a 7pm start to a near 10pm end here , an utterly unique setting , and fabulous hospitality courtesy of Bea and her team , this is a dining experience not to be missed .
General seating for Supperclub . Tube starts at £ 67pp with private tables available from £ 73pp . Advance prepaid booking is essential .
