With a large stretch of golden sand , you could while away many hours relaxing and watching the world go by , or if you ’ re seeking a faster pace of life , no trip to Margate is complete without a trip to Dreamland - one of the oldest surviving amusement parks in Britain . Free to enter , Dreamland is suitable for all ages and serves up fun at every turn . With retro and vintage-inspired rides , entertainment , food , drink and even a roller disco in the Roller Room , you can stay for as long as you please .
Dreamland ’ s also famed for its live music performances and this summer you can see the likes of Elbow , Bryan Adams , Simple Minds and noughties boy bands Busted and JLS all taking to the stage as part of the Margate Summer Series .

Think pink Once you ’ re all rollercoastered out and have worked up an appetite for lunch , make sure you pay a visit to Beach Buoys on Marine Drive . You can ’ t miss its nostalgic pink facade and inside the retro aesthetic continues with vintage posters and decor from the seaside town ’ s heyday .
Serving up traditional fish and chips and a whole lot more ( you ’ ll find the likes of panko sesame king prawns , katsu curry loaded fries and salt and pepper squid on the menu ), choose to eat in the restaurant and look out over the sand , or get your meal to go and enjoy the views up close by sitting on the beach to eat .
Cool in the pool Feeling relaxed ? Well perhaps it ’ s time to take a dip . Back at your digs , you ’ ll find the iconic Walpole Bay Tidal Pool - four acres of water in which to swim . Believed to be the biggest tidal pool in the UK , it ’ s become a popular destination for sea swimming with fresh water springs rising from the beach within the walls . Take a stroll back to the apartment to grab your swimwear , then head just across the road to the tidal pool for a refreshing splash . Warm up afterwards with a hot drink from the seafront cafe and in the summer months you can partake in bowls or mini golf , too .
