HOME + GARDEN
resilient to stressors like heat and drought later in the summer ; not to mention the incredible benefits of tackling pollution due to the isolation of carbon dioxide during this process .
Our soil is also in for a treat as longer blades mean better shade , which helps to retain much needed moisture .
As temperatures rise throughout the weeks , evaporation rates increase leading to drier soil so , acting as a natural mulch , growing grass will reduce water loss from the soil and lead to water conservation . However , we must monitor all developments in this stage to strike the perfect growth balance as allowing your grass to become excessively long can lead to issues such as pest infestations and risk of disease within your soil .
Beyond the eye-opening ecological benefits , refraining from mowing can also work wonders for the aesthetic appeal of your garden . With luscious green spaces and stretching wildflowers leading to a brighter and fuller appearance ( also a great trick for concealing those bare patches or imperfections !), your outside spots can feel transformed into a blossoming oasis by simply welcoming nature ’ s natural beauty .
Although our participation throughout the most active of seasons is a fantastic step towards the protection and future of our natural world , for long-term change regarding our green space habits we want to look beyond the month of May and towards new garden practises .
While there are no set rules to the perfect grass length - and all various landscapes and environments will require certain care - recommended for the greatest chance of welcoming all types of wildlife , flowers and plants all year long , is sectioning our outside areas to support as many varieties of species as possible .
For example , carve out picturesque paths of trimmed lawns for daisies and burrowing insects , also helpful for space practicality , and save plenty of space for wildflowers such as red clovers and orchids to beautifully bloom .
So , as we welcome the fruitful growth that the new season brings , embrace this more relaxed approach for the better and transform your gardens into spaces to be proud of ; by doing so , we can look forward to creating greener , more sustainable landscapes that thrive throughout the summer months and beyond … happy growing Kent !
