Kevin and Sam Mummery have been running Walmer Court Farm Shop since 2015 and Kevin says : “ We have always wanted to highlight the incredible range of produce on offer from local farmers and stockists . To be able to then provide this to the local community is our main goal . We love our loyal customers and love to see new faces daily for a chat and a laugh . We offer a range of fruit and veg , but we also stock a vast amount of other goods from frozen homemade curries and hand-baked cakes and pasta to bird seed , biscuits , coal and beer ! You can always ring ahead to see if we have what you need , fill in an online order form , or pop into the shop - we cannot wait to see you , and you may even bump into Pepper the dog .”

The Goods Shed will not only provide you with a bustling open farmers ’ market to feast your senses upon , but also an award-winning restaurant which makes the perfect viewing platform to witness the hustle and bustle of this fabulous food metropolis . With a delicious menu consisting of dishes made up of local and seasonal produce , as well as English wines sourced from local vineyards , you can purchase treats that have you salivating for more at the in-house butchers , fishmongers , veg stall , bakery , cheesemongers , charcuterie and wine store . The compact and carefully crafted menu changes regularly , utilising the best local ingredients the market has to offer . Slow-proved loaves are drawn from the ovens in the bakery throughout the day and meat is freshly prepared in the butchery to be cooked in the open kitchen or outside on the grill .
Perry Court , Ashford Easily accessible from the A28 towards Canterbury , near the Wye turnings , the Fermor family have been running this farm for three generations . On-site , visitors will not only find the farm ’ s resident Tamworth pigs , Southdown sheep , geese , rescue chickens and Elvis and Murphy the miniature donkeys , but also a farm shop bursting with Perry Court ’ s homegrown and produced goods and carefully selected premium produce from other local farms .
You ’ ll find bread from Davies Bakery , Ashford , and Wye Bakery just down the road , as well as meat from two local farmers , while the fishmonger appears each Friday and Saturday to showcase Kent ’ s finest local catch . favourite farm shops is Taywell Farm Shop in Cranbrook . The charming shop is decked out in green flowering hops dripping from the traditional beamed ceiling . With the firm belief that local is king , Taywell ’ s focus on produce , food , drinks and gifts from Kent and the surrounding area is a commendable step in the direction of healthy , sustainable and community-led business . There ’ s crusty loaves ready to be tucked into , oils , jams and chutneys , pies , plums and even a huge selection of Kentish ice cream .
Alongside gifts and postcards , there ’ s a dedicated alcohol corner full of wines and artisan spirits . Quite literally stocked from floor to ceiling , this is a bottle wall of dreams , most of which have been sourced locally like the famous Anno Gin , independent microbrewery , Cellar Head , and premium wines by Westwell Wines .
