Delivered with warmth by Annabel , for whom nothing was too much trouble throughout my entire spa day , the heaving arched afternoon tea stand proudly boasted fresh finger sandwiches ,
mini brioche buns filled with roast beef , warm sausage rolls with a perfect ratio of cranberry-stuffed sausage meat to thin flaky pastry , mini cakes including a bittersweet chocolate brownie , delicate pavlova meringue with Chantilly cream , zingy lemon tart with raspberry coulis and a divine caramelised white chocolate blondie , as well , of course , as the star of the show , freshly baked plain and fruit scones which were a perfect example of light , buttery goodness and some of the best I have had the pleasure of tasting .
