WEDDINGS
OUT : REGULAR RECEPTIONS IN : UNUSUAL ENTERTAINMENT
Weddings are essentially the ultimate party and this year couples are getting more creative with ways to keep their guests entertained during the wedding reception . While photo booths and garden games will still be making an appearance , there ’ s a whole load of new ways couples are putting on show stopping days .
Saxophonists , Mariachi bands and drummers provide alternative backdrops to reception drinks , while hiring acrobats , comedians , magicians and even petting zoos are some of the other ways couples are injecting some creativity into their days to leave their guests wowed . Some couples have even been requesting guest participation by introducing cocktail competitions , karaoke contests and dance-offs .
OUT : UNPLUGGED WEDDINGS IN : DIGITAL DAYS
In an oversharing culture with social media at the tips of our fingers , in recent years many couples have opted for an ‘ unplugged ’ wedding ; requesting that friends and family don ’ t take pictures of the ceremony and refrain from revealing any details of the wedding until the big day has passed . But , in 2024 there ’ s a movement away from the digital detox wedding with couples ramping up the ways their guests can get involved and share the highlights of their day .
Live streaming weddings became popular during the pandemic , but now more couples are opting to add live video to their day as standard , so that they can share their big day with anyone unable to attend . Digital photo booths are also becoming more popular , with guests having the option to immediately share snaps of them celebrating .

The trend for traditional veils has been on the decline , with many brides choosing headpieces , headbands and embellished accessories instead , but for 2024 the veil is making a triumphant comeback .
Brides aren ’ t going small , either , opting for cathedral length veils with embellishments and intricate detailing - some are even having their veils personalised with their partner ’ s name , or their wedding date . So , what ’ s the reason for the veil ’ s resurgence ? Partly , it ’ s down to a rise in celebrity brides opting for a veil ( think Sophie Habboo and Sofia Richie ), but also a nod to the retro , vintage styling that ’ s on trend for this year .
