RADNOR HOUSE SEVENOAKS ’ STUDENTS LEAD ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE

A forward-thinking day school for pupils aged 2 - 18 is pioneering an innovative approach to environmental education by empowering students to make impactful changes in the school community .
Radnor House Sevenoaks has established a new student-led eco-committee . Comprising 15 pupils from across the Prep School and Senior School , it gives enthusiastic students the opportunity to make a difference .
The committee conducted a full environmental review to assess the school ’ s green status and identify areas for improvement . It created Radnor ’ s ‘ Eco Promise ’, which features actions that every member of the school community can pledge to fulfil . This includes small , everyday activities from switching off lights to using recycling bins and giving lessons on green issues .
In just 12 months , the students have planted over 100 trees , cut energy consumption , built bug hotels , and produced honey on site .
Less money spent on electricity , greater biodiversity on campus and richer learning experiences have created a more positive learning environment . The students ’ efforts have won them a Kent Green Schools Award and an Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction .
To find out how your child can get involved in Radnor House Sevenoaks ’ student-led eco activities , join the Prep School open morning on 16 March . Please sign up online at www . radnor-sevenoaks . org / opendaystours .
