How our Christmas trees are grown
Year 1 : The seeds are picked from up high on ‘ mother ’ trees . They are planted and nurtured in a specialist nursery in Denmark for around three years .
Year 3 : The seedlings are then planted in a plantation in Scotland where the climate is ideal for growing Christmas trees .
Year 5 : The trees are tended to several times per year and are now starting to look like Christmas trees .
Year 9 : The trees are pruned by hand every year to produce the traditional Christmas tree shape .
Year 12 : The Christmas tree is now ready for your home ! The very best are selected and carefully harvested .
All of our Christmas trees are cut as late as they can be so you can be assured they are as fresh as possible .
Christmas tree care
Think of a real Christmas tree like a bunch of flowers – it may be a little bigger , but they are a natural product and should be treated like one . If your Christmas tree is not to be decorated right away , keep it standing up outside , and if possible submerge the trunk in water .
Before the tree is brought indoors , cut about 2 cm off the trunk of the tree . This will help the tree take a well-deserved drink through the festive period .
Choose a location for your Christmas tree that is away from direct heat sources ( radiators , fires etc ) and draughts . This will stop the tree from drying out too quickly .
Stand the tree in a water-holding stand for ultimate freshness . Keep the water topped up . Check daily as trees can be thirsty !
