REALHOMES
How would you describe your style ? I would describe my personal style as modern classic . I was brought up in a house with lovely furniture and artwork , and my surroundings have always been incredibly important to me . I love colour and texture , and adding character to my projects through different styles to create a layered story to an interior .
What makes you unique to other interior designers ? I have great skills in interpreting my clients ’ requirements . Building strong relationships with my clients is a really crucial part of my role . I spend a lot of time with my clients and get to know them very well . This helps me to have insight into who they are and how they live which informs the design process . I also have great problem-solving skills and can find ways to overcome any issues that can arise , which as anyone who ’ s ever undertaken a large project will know can be very helpful !
What should our readers consider when it comes to selecting an interior designer ? When choosing an interior designer there are a couple of key considerations . Having some kind of chemistry with the designer is very important . It goes without saying that you need to like the work they have done , but don ’ t be put off if every project isn ’ t exactly as you would like - a competent interior designer can adapt to different styles depending on the property style and the client ’ s taste . Another consideration is whether you want a large design house with many designers , or the individual attention of an interior designer who manages all their own projects .
What design trends have you seen in 2023 and what are you expecting to see in 2024 ? There have been some fabulous interior shows as many new collections have been launched recently . In particular , I am seeing trends of colour blocking and strong cerulean blue is looking popular . There is also a considerable focus on sustainability ; rugs and fabrics made of recycled plastic bottles are stunning and incredibly soft ! There has also been a move against using harsh chemicals for fire retardancy .
What is the most satisfying thing about your job and what do you enjoy most about it ? There are many things I love about what I do . Building strong relationships with my clients is very important to me . Our environment has a big impact on our quality of life , so helping people create somewhere they feel happy is just a fabulous thing to be able to do . I love the completeness of working on a project from beginning to end . Handing over a home which you have thought through every detail of back to a client is a real privilege .
