TAKE A LOOK INTO THE CREATORS OF THE COUNTY STEAMING AHEAD WITH THEIR ARTISTIC ENDEAVOURS ...
Hare and Moon Jewellery
After trying her hand at various other crafts before rediscovering her passion for jewellery making , Samantha Halliwell formed Hare and Moon Jewellery . A small business dedicated to creating handcrafted and eco-friendly earrings , rings , bracelets and necklaces , made only with the utmost care .
As a lover of creative crafting and experimenting with designs and techniques , Samantha took her skills learnt from previous jewellery making endeavours including tiger wire and beads , lamp working and much loved silversmithing , to bring her designs to others . Settling on her favourite discovery , Silver Metal Clay , a technique using the particles of silver mixed with a binder and water to make a clay-like substance which is then moulded into desired shapes and once dried is sanded and fired resulting in beautiful 99.9 % fine silver . Still discovering her signature style , Samantha currently takes inspiration from nature and geometric shapes and is passionate about sharing her lovingly crafted jewellery . “ Honestly , I love every step . From the thinking of a design , to the making of it , but I think my favourite part is seeing someone love the piece I have made enough to want to wear it . I want my jewellery to be something you wear every day and not leave in a box to only get out once or twice a year .” Find Samantha ’ s designs on her website , visit one of her market stalls around East Kent , or join the creativity and visit her silver metal clay workshops in Westgate Galleria .

Grace Interiors
Named after her daughter Grace , Sophie Lawrence began Grace Interiors almost six years ago , taking inspiration from her parents ' drive and artistic abilities to open a fabulous ‘ luxe-cycling ’ furniture business in the heart of Folkestone . From small cabinets and cushions to wardrobes and lampshades , everything is rescued from the landfill and transformed into stylish and unique pieces , ensuring that no scrap goes to waste and each piece is given the chance of a new life . “ I have always loved making something beautiful out of nothing and I think this started from a very young age , growing up in a large family with not much money ,” Sophie says . “ My mother scouted the charity shops and was extremely creative to make our home beautiful ! I learned to look past old worn out things and have an imaginative vision of how they could look .” Recruiting her sister Katie when the demand for her services increased , Sophie is not only passionate about creating gorgeous interior pieces but also championing and offering support to other local creatives , offering the opportunity to sell their pieces and help them grow . Visit their shop in Folkestone , or take a trip to their hut at the Marketplace in Folkestone ’ s Harbour Arm , also be sure to catch Grace Interiors on BBC One show Money For Nothing presented by Sarah Moore !

Charlotte Heather Illustration
Returning to her sketchbook in 2020 to join others in an online art club , Charlotte Heather began making and selling her designs through Instagram in spring 2022 . Building Charlotte Heather Illustration through the encouragement of the online creative community to make keepsake commissions and create sustainably made cards and prints using a mixture of watercolour , pencils and intricate paper cutting . The outcome ? Handmade , intricate and thoughtful pieces , as described by Charlotte , focusing on the simple joys and slow moments of daily life with a sprinkling of childhood magic here and there . “ I find inspiration in life ' s simple pleasures - making a cup of coffee , lighting a candle on a cosy day , a walk in the forest with my children , a sparkling night sky . I create pieces that bring a sense of calm and a cosy feel by using a soft colour palette ,” she says . “ Through the chaos of motherhood , my desk is a calm sanctuary for slowing right down . It ' s where I fill sketchbooks with ideas and paint tiny shimmery stars ... When I ' m not working on commissions and sipping cups of coffee .” Charlotte is looking forward to joining more markets across Kent , as well as putting into action her plans for gorgeous new collections and collaborations ( including a range of stationery !).
