CELEBRATING SEASONALITY & SKILLS
As I ’ m writing this we look set for a few days of sunshine , which will be welcome news for parents , holiday makers , pubs , restaurants and for the farmers who ’ ve been hampered by all the summer rain .
Seasonality is absolutely key at The Corner House and we always appreciate the privilege of being able to source such fantastic produce from our local area . September is an exciting time from many perspectives , the vineyards of Chapel Down and Gusbourne will be busy harvesting the grapes , Ramsgate ’ s Eddie Gadd will be brewing his delicious Green Hops beer and us chefs will be foraging for blackberries .
It ’ s also a time that I look forward to the coming game season , our long term suppliers Stour Valley are always first in this respect . You ’ ll soon see our BBQ sharing board replaced with a pheasant for two - with game chips and all the trimmings . Our ever popular sharing dishes will be key features on the menu as will of course our wonderful Kentish seafood .
Having originally been heading for a career in marketing , it was the camaraderie and passion of working in a kitchen that pulled me back to the restaurant . I ’ ve never looked back and working under Gordon Ramsay , Adam Byatt and Anthony Demetre gave me the best ever training to set up The Corner House .
As our industry undergoes a skills crisis , I ’ m grateful for my fantastic team who have stuck with me and continue to deliver the best dining experience . I ’ d also like to thank our wonderful guests who ’ ve helped us to achieve a record breaking summer .
Inspiring the next generation and encouraging wellbeing are both close to my heart , as such I ’ m proud to sponsor the shirts of the junior Baypoint Football Club this year . Our head chef Rebecca ’ s son is the goalkeeper and we wish them all the best in their 2023 / 24 season .
