WINNER ANNOUNCED FOR INAUGURAL MARGATE ART PRIZE
Brianna Parker has been announced as the winner for the inaugural Margate Art Prize with her piece Bread , Birds , Blocks . Guests gathered at the art gallery Ramsay & Williams to hear sole judge , Tracey Emin , announce the winner from a shortlist of 11 artists . Following the announcement , a private reception was held on the terrace at Pearly Cow restaurant at the newly launched hotel No . 42 by GuestHouse , Margate , lead sponsors of the prize .
COOPERBURNETT LLP RAISES £ 12,000 FOR DEMELZA
The Tunbridge Wells-based law firm CooperBurnett LLP has handed over £ 12,000 to the children ’ s hospice charity Demelza , raised having conquered the gruelling ultra-marathon challenge , the Dulux Race To The King . This figure comprised £ 6,000 which was fundraised and then pound-matched by the partners at the firm .
The ‘ magnificent seven ’ team members who took part in the challenge were partners Victoria Sampson , Joseph Oates , Gemma Gillespie and Sarah Strong ; head of accounts , Gareth Warner ; associate solicitor , Ayla Clissold ; and PA to the commercial property team , Hannah Mashford . Between them , they walked and ran an astonishing 500km over two days in June , starting and finishing at Goodwood .
Three of the team Ayla Clissold , Sarah Strong and Gemma Gillespie , each individually covered an incredible 100km ( 62.1 miles ) – with Ayla and Sarah completing that distance in one go .

TEAM AT HOBBYCRAFT CANTERBURY CELEBRATE NEW STORE OPENING WITH HUNDREDS OF CUSTOMERS QUEUING IN EXCITEMENT
Hobbycraft , the UK ’ s largest arts and crafts retailer , celebrated the opening of its new store at Riverside Retail Park , Canterbury with a host of crafting activities , product offers and goody bags for the first 100 customers who walked through the doors .
The new Hobbycraft store , which created 15 new jobs in the local area , offers customers the retailers ’ extensive range of crafting products from art , baking , home craft , papercraft , knitting , sewing , kids ’ crafts and model making to accessories for weddings , celebrations and much more .
Store manager , Craig Woodward-Dack said : “ Our amazing store is packed with crafting materials to suit all ages and abilities , and beginners through to experienced crafters are all welcome to pop into the store and chat to our creative colleagues . They ’ re always happy to share their knowledge , tips and tricks .”
The new Canterbury store will be open Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm , Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm .
