Founder and owner Sally Newall ran a catering business for over 20 years which was in fact the springboard for the leap into the ice cream business . Incredible feedback from happy customers for her homemade ice cream led Sally to decide to move away from full-time catering and concentrate on developing Simply Ice Cream into the successful premium brand they are today . Free from additives and preservatives , Simply Ice Cream flavours reflect the best of Kent and include unique ingredients such as Kentish cobnut , Kent cherry , apple crumble , honeycomb and more . The ice cream is still made the old fashioned way , by hand , in small batches . Sorbets and vegan ice cream are also available and can be found in nearly 400 outlets across the south of England including 35 Waitrose stores . Simply Ice Cream have also achieved a Guild of Fine Food , Great Taste Gold Three Star award for their Heavenly Honeycomb Crunch , the highest accolade judged by great taste and texture .

A pink fronted ice cream bar serving real fruit ice cream from the heart of Margate Old Town . Gathering fruits from The Garden of England itself , co-founder Nicole makes sure there is an ever-changing seasonal lineup of flavours and customers are guaranteed to never get bored . Current flavours include strawberry real fruit ice cream with sweet strawberries from Kelsey Farms , TiramiSundae ( a glorious layered Tiramisu sundae ), Madagascan vanilla mascarpone , coffee and marsala soaked lady fingers and cocoa dust . Vegan options are available in most flavours too . Open from 11am to 6pm everyday , and until 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays .

In 2006 there was a problem . Surplus fruit from farmers markets was going to waste . But then the clever people at Taywells decided that they could use it by making ice cream – after all , if they loved the stuff , surely other people would too ? That did , indeed , happen to be the case – in fact , Taywell Ice Cream has won over 20 prestigious Great Taste awards to prove it . Most of the recipes used to make Taywells ice cream are gluten free too , to make it all the more inclusive . There are flavours that include black sesame , cherry , mango and raspberry ripple , Turkish delight and Kent cobnut .

Hailing from Italy , owner Antonella is passionate about good gelato and has included a gorgeous selection of flavours for customers to choose from . These included After Eight , Lotus Biscoff , vegan Ferrero Rocher and many more .
