WELCOME
Hello summer !
Nothing screams British summertime more than torrential downpours , a side order of humidity and some ‘ what in the cossie living crisis ’ media shenanigans , huh ? The irony that this time last year we were baking in iKHQ and this year we have been swimming across the carpark to bring you this issue is not lost on us as we finally herald our official start to summer .
But while the stats for just how much we Brits love a convo about the weather speak for themselves , all is most certainly not lost as we approach another school ’ s-out summer , for we are going to plant the seed of a homegrown local staycation firmly at the top of your must-do , must-see , and must-eat lists !
From miles of glorious coastline , to the top summer city hotspots to stay cool in , we have rounded up the best of summer spritzes , the coolest ice cream hangouts , the freshest seafood suppers , and we also show you how to set sail for a summer of fun in the Kentish sun ( or rain ; we ’ re not fussed !).
This issue is simply jam-packed with all you need to have an August to remember – for all the right reasons – as we also show some love for desirable Deal , Kent ’ s best beaches , and our French neighbours too , with my review of an easy family escape to Calais for your inspiration pleasure .
POINTING HOME TO KENT FROM PAS DE CALAIS
And the love doesn ’ t stop there , as we bring you our second wedding special of the year with a summer spin on the top Kentish wedding venues and suppliers for your big day with a round up of some of the county ’ s most beautiful venues in which to exchange your “ I dos ”.
As always , the summer ahead will be an interesting and often tricky time for your local Kentish independents , so go and eat the local ice cream , book a table for a local breakfast , lunch or dinner , plan some local days out , fuel your summer fun with a local coffee , and toast another summer ( survived ) with a crisp glass of Kentish wine .
Wishing you a fresh , fun and fabulous summer Kent !
