As a lover of all things creative , with a passion for bright colours , eye-catching designs and of course calligraphy , Jessica Watson began her social media page , Boards By Jess , in 2018 , wanting to bring back her creative flair after studying journalism at university , but not realising just how far it may take her . Now a self-taught , full-time lettering and illustration artist , experienced in creating handpainted signs , stationery , windows and chalkboards for businesses , events and weddings , as well as teaching calligraphy workshops , it seems she has done just that and more . As a small business tackling the artistic industry , Jess shared her thoughts and experience on stepping outside of the box . “ I think when being creative , it ’ s so important to own your individual style and be confident with it . We all have so much access through social media to other artists ' work which can be really inspiring , however it can become easy to feel like you need to create certain pieces or design a certain way to appeal to your audience , especially when starting out and trying to find clients . Over the years and with lots of experimenting , I ’ ve really tried to focus on creating pieces that bring me joy . It ’ s all about trusting yourself !” Jess is looking forward to teaching more beginners calligraphy workshops this autumn and winter around Kent venues , as well as branching into creating statement lettered signs for homes ( although not until after the hectic wedding season !).

Blooming Róza
Meaning Beautiful Rose , coming from both English and Polish , a representation of their love of flowers and partnership , Blooming Róza was formed by dream team Maisie and Judy , who combined their passions for creativity , love and the wedding industry , setting out to use their friendship and extensive skills to provide gorgeous florals and decor . As hopeless romantics and previous brides with firsthand experience of the overwhelming processes of planning your wedding , they are determined to create meaningful and magical touches , providing a helping hand to ease prewedding nerves . When asked what makes Blooming Róza different from the rest , Maisie touched on the team ' s commitment of being welcoming to all walks of life . “ We are also an inclusive business . We believe this is more important than ever in our county as it is home to many LGBTQ + individuals
( Maisie included ), and has many celebratory events for those in this community , including Canterbury Pride ! We also believe Kent has a beautiful mix of cultures and this is something we will always want to be aware of and celebrate . As well as our floristry , we make a large range of wedding items . We ensure these items , like wedding glassware , shirts , hangers and make up bags , are all customisable so we can be as inclusive as possible . Love has no gender or bounds , so we are here for our brides , grooms and people getting married as well as their bridesmaids , groomsmen , groomswomen , bridesmen and best people ! We want everyone ' s wedding journey to be romantic , magical and something they can look back on with joy !”

Noticing a gap in the market when planning her own wedding last year , Chloe Cornwell , with help from her woodwork-loving partner , created Vintage Charm . A vintage garden games hiring business for weddings and special events in Kent and surrounding areas . With a background in admin and now a busy mum running her own business , Chloe is no stranger to the hard work that comes with diving into your dreams . “ If you have an idea that you love , just do it ,” she says . “ If you are truly passionate about your idea and you are willing to put in the work , nothing will be able to stop you .” With many of their games already made out of reclaimed wood and plans in place to continue the eco-conscious approach , Chloe is very mindful of their carbon footprint . Always looking for new ways to offer products with sustainability in mind , all while keeping to their incredibly stylish and signature look , catching the eyes of couples searching for party entertainment that stands out from the rest . Chloe is looking forward to meeting lots of lovely couples as she joins more wedding fairs across the county , as well as expanding her gorgeous collection !
