RSPB DUNGENESS NATURE RESERVE IN KENT IS INVITING FAMILIES TO ENJOY A BIG WILD SUMMER BY HOSTING A SERIES OF FUN , NATURE-THEMED ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES TO DISCOVER NATURE AT THEIR LOCAL RSPB RESERVE .
From pond dipping to minibeast hunting , wildlife challenges and hiring a Wildlife Explorer Backpack for the day , plus so much more – RSPB Dungeness can help the whole family spend precious time together , reconnect with nature , and make happy memories outdoors .

WHAT ’ S ON THIS SUMMER
Pond dipping : 7 & 21 August // 11am - 2.30pm
Families are invited to uncover what lives beneath the water ' s surface at special pond dipping events taking place throughout the summer holidays .
Drop in between 11am and 2.30pm to take part . Normal admission charges apply for non-members . The activity is free to participate .
Make a bug hotel : Daily Throughout August // 10am - 4pm
Get creative whilst visiting the reserve by making a bug hotel . Grab a tin can and collect materials while you walk around , then either tie some string around it and hang it outside or place it on the ground to see what minibeasts make it their home .
This activity starts in the Visitor Centre . Normal admission charges apply for non-members .
Nature arts & crafts : Daily Throughout August // 10am - 4pm
Also based in the Visitor Centre are nature-based arts and crafts . Come and make a bird feeder out of a pinecone or design a bunting flag inspired by your visit to RSPB Dungeness .

RSPB DUNGENESS GO WILD AT HOME
The RSPB Dungeness shop has a range of nature-themed goodies available for the family to take home and remember their big wild summer day out . Give nature a home in your own home with their bug hotels , nest boxes , bird feeders , and butterfly wildflower seeds . Or treat the family to some optics , a bug ID kit , or wildlife book so you can continue to explore the nature on your own doorstep .

Whether exploring nature in your garden , local area or an RSPB Reserve , the RSPB ’ s free award scheme Wild Challenge can help your family to spend more time in nature and help wildlife too . Simply register and pick activities from wildflower walks to building a minibeast hotel – there ’ s plenty to inspire !

“ The free RSPB Wild Challenges are flexible , and you can do many of the low or no cost activities in your local area or your garden , so no need to cover the cost of travel . By completing three Wild Challenge activities to ‘ Experience Nature ’ and three to ‘ Help Nature ’ you can progress through a Wild Challenge Award level . Whether you achieve bronze , silver or gold , the most important thing is to have fun together as a family discovering and helping the incredible nature living around you in Kent .”
