THE GEORGE VAULTS
If you ’ re looking to tie the knot somewhere with plenty of unusual history , then perhaps a vaulted crypt dating back to AD 1325 could be your thing . The George Vaults in Rochester were rediscovered in 2002 , having previously been a church and then an inn . And , although it ’ s never been found , the crypt is also said to mark the site of the Church of St Mary , within The Walled City of Rochester . Now a popular food and drink destination , The George Vaults offers an intimate wedding space where couples can get married below the streets of Rochester .
LYMPNE CASTLE
A stunning Grade I listed building with a grand West Wing , a Great Hall and gorgeous grounds , Lympne Castle not only boasts uninterrupted and unparalleled views of the Kentish coast and countryside , but also a rich and varied history . Constructed in the 12th century as part of the Archbishop of Canterbury ’ s estate , the castle has many claims to fame , including Sir Paul McCartney recording the Wings album Return to the Egg in the Great Hall where weddings are now performed .
ST AUGUSTINE ’ S
