MONOCHROME MAGIC
From black-tie themed affairs to the rise in guests opting for black outfits , it seems that noir is having its moment when it comes to weddings . In stark contrast to the boho , rustic trend that ’ s been at the forefront of nuptials over recent years , the monochrome movement sees an altogether more formal approach to weddings . Sophisticated glamour takes centre stage with luxurious accents , contemporary decor and a pared-back palette .
ALL DOLLED UP
Summer ’ s biggest film release , Greta Gerwig ’ s Barbie has inspired more than children ’ s bedrooms . In fact , online mood board platform Pinterest has revealed that searches for ‘ Barbie wedding theme ’ increased this year by 140 % and ‘ hot pink wedding colours ’ by 465 %. Officially known as ‘ Barbiecore ’, the trend sees couples including everything from pink stones in rings to pink drinks , dresses and flowers in their nuptials .
FAUX SHOW
With the risk of summer weather causing flowers to wilt and a desire to keep costs down , many couples are opting for artificial flowers for their wedding day . From bouquets brimming with silk blooms to centrepieces starring synthetic succulents , weddings this summer will be adorned with artificial arrangements , which will not only stay fresh all day long , but will act as keepsakes long after the knot has been tied .
ALL BLOOMS BRIGHT & BEAUTIFUL
Everyone loves pretty pastel petals and muted dried flower arrangements but there is something very exciting about the bright and bold blooms which have begun to creep in and make some serious statements at this year ’ s on-trend weddings . Whether it be in the bridal party bouquets , used as centrepieces or scattered within the décor dotted throughout the venue , bright flowers add a real sense of fun and vibrancy and can be used as the perfect reflection of the bride and groom ’ s personality .
BESPOKE BEVERAGES
Taking place during that bit of a wedding after the ceremony and before the reception , the cocktail hour is a way to get creative with drinks and give guests something to sip and savour . Many couples opt for a personalised signature cocktail ; something that combines their individual tastes to create a special serve for their big day . But , aside from bespoke cocktails , there ’ s the option to serve up a whole array of tipples , from non-alcoholic concoctions to classic cocktails like martinis , old fashioneds and negronis . Looking to cut back on costs ? Why not forego wedding favours on the tables and treat your guests to a cocktail instead ?
ECO FOCUS
There ’ s been a shift towards making weddings more sustainable and this summer sees eco-conscious couples finding myriad ways to have their perfect day but with a fraction of the environmental impact . Recycled and repurposed materials feature heavily in everything from decor to stationery , and demand for using local suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint is also a choice many couples are making . When it comes to wedding outfits , grooms ’ suits have long been hired , but now many brides are choosing to rent , rather than buy , their dresses . There ’ s even been a rise in wedding guests hiring outfits or buying preloved items , too .
CUSTOM CREATIONS
As couples seek to personalise their big days in as many ways as possible , the demand for bespoke wedding rings has increased . Some brides and grooms have their jewellery engraved , while others have completely unique rings made for them . Having sentimental jewellery repurposed
