Over the last decade , the word sustainability has entered our vocabulary and is being used and heard more than ever before . But are we putting the concept into practice ? Plenty of things have changed in our daily lives that work towards having a positive impact on the environment and our future on the planet . A movement that really got in full motion sometime in the early 2000s , according to a recent WRAP report around 88 % of British households now recycle ; nine out of 10 households now use energy saving light bulbs ; and the charge for singleuse plastic carrier bags has dramatically cut their production and use in comparison to 30 years ago when most of us were still ignorant to their environmental harm .
