JADE MOUNTAIN
Commanding a majestic position above its beachfront sister resort Anse Chastanet , Jade Mountain is , quite frankly , unlike anywhere else I have ever had the pleasure of staying around the globe .
Unafraid to be bold with his architectural style and ambition , Troubetzkoy ’ s resort is part futurist , Marxist , Star Wars-esque organic architecture and part scenic wonder ; made even more impressive by the fact that every cliffside facade is without walls , demonstrating not only the sheer architectural ingenuity of the build but also the relentless ethic of the island workforce who scaled the sheer face of its mountain top location to transport everything from bricks to cement to the hand-chosen , jewel-toned tiles which line the infinity pools from which every image is ‘ Gram-worthy . The latter too , not only bringing a painstakingly selected finish to the interior design here , but a point of repeat booking acknowledgement as guests scramble to return to their “ orange pool ” or “ the purple room ”.
Set across five floors , commanding those coveted Piton views from every level , which ascend up its mountainous positioning in otherworldly style , it stands to reason that the resort ’ s locations have a galactic nod .
You ’ ll find the pinnacle Celestial Terrace , which crowns the resort affording panoramic sunrise , sunset and Piton views , sat atop the Jade Mountain Club restaurant , a fine-dining ‘ Jade Cuisine ’ experience exclusively for resort guests by James Beard Awardwinning chef , Allen Susser .
You won ’ t find rooms here , oh no , you ’ ll be checked into your own sanctuary ; Galaxy , Sun , Moon , Star , or Sky ( the Sky category the only not to boast those aforementioned jewel-toned infinity pools ) by your personal major-domo ( that ’ s butler to you and I ). Unlike many other resorts , categories are spread across each of the levels rather than in the same sections , and depend not just on square footage , but also on just how commanding and wide-reaching those views are . Oh , and how many walls there are , less walls = higher category !
Honestly , seeing is believing here …
Sanctuaries , which are reached via their own private walkway bridges which criss-cross across the resort , are designed to both be at one with , and stand out against , the surrounding nature , and to do so boast completely open-plan interiors and an entirely open facade for the fourth wall . With abodes having just two or three walls , the rest is completely open to offer those jaw-dropping views , framed of course by the most breathtaking infinity pools which cast reflections of the Pitons straight into the room ; and , despite its open nature , are utterly , utterly private and secluded – a fact not lost on the A-lister elite who check in and out as unseen as the humming birds that frequent the bougainvillaea along the mountain edge .
Boasting 15ft high ceilings , entry to your far-fromhumble abode is by an incredible , similar height , heavy wooden door surrounded on either side by dark wood shuttering . As the door swings open , inside you ’ ll find grand , sweeping spaces where bedroom , living area and pool link seamlessly . Even the bathrooms , most of which are positioned elevated behind a half wall for a little extra privacy , command incredible views from the rainforest showers and whirlpool jacuzzi baths .
From the moment you shut your sanctuary door , you don ’ t even have to leave your abode ( and frankly will mourn when you eventually do ).
Everything from breakfast , lunch and dinner to afternoon tea , Champagne and room service snacks can be arranged around the clock and delivered to enjoy as you wish . However , for those that wish to , you have full access to the Jade Mountain Club , allowing you to relax on the rooftop terrace , join the weekly manager ’ s sunset cocktail gathering , or simply watch the sunset , rum in hand of course , before nabbing a sought after table in the restaurant , again boasting that open fourth wall as well as an inspired award-winning menu which utilises its own Emerald Farm produce in an example of one of the most incredible kitchen-garden supply chains in the world , and if that were not enough , its own chocolate menu ( oh hello , you had me at chocolate and infinity pool ), from its own inhouse chocolate lab , too – utter heaven ! Dishes here incorporate tropical flavours , exotic ingredients , and a wellness nourishment edge , displayed in fusion fine dining finesse to the backdrop of some of the island ’ s most acclaimed musicians ; and you also have the option of dining at any of Anse Chastanet ’ s restaurant offerings too !
And that ’ s just the food .
