CROWDS CELEBRATE IN STYLE AT ELWICK PLACE ’ S PARTY AT THE PIAZZA
On Sunday 7 May , in celebration of the King ’ s Coronation , local marcomms agency Sideways Media hosted their first outdoor event : Party at The Piazza at Elwick Place , Ashford ’ s entertainment and leisure hub in the heart of the town .
The free-to-attend event included live music from local bands The Rec and Into The Rose Garden , as well as a showstopping performance of Six ! the Musical by Towers School , and a host of children ' s craft activities and face painting . The most popular activity was the coronation dress-up station where children were invited to pose on Elwick Place ’ s Coronation Throne , a piece designed and created especially for the event by Made in Ashford , for their chance to win a host of Elwick Place prizes from ice cream to cinema tickets and ‘ Match Box ’ hire at Matches Sports Bar .
Commenting on the event , local MP Damien Green , who joined in the celebration sampling food , watching the performances and meeting local visitors , said : “ It looks great here , it is fabulous to see Elwick Place full of atmosphere and busy again . Elwick Place is so important to our town centre and there is great scope for other events here in the future .”
Samantha Ready , MD Sideways Media , added : “ Elwick Place ’ s Piazza is just the perfect outdoor events space in the heart of Ashford . Today has been a real celebration of local talent , the local businesses who call Elwick Place home , and of our local community who really got into the spirit ; dressing up , waving flags and toasting the occasion with a glass or two of Pimms !”
Party at The Piazza was the first activity in a calendar of new events at Elwick Place which will also host its inaugural food festival in July and see its entertainment centre transformed into ‘ Elfwick Place ’ for some festive family fun later in the year .

OPEN-AIR THEATRE DEBUT FOR ASHFORD ’ S NEWEST VINEYARD
Nine Oaks Vineyard , which opened in 2020 and has recently celebrated its first debut release of rosé and chardonnay , has announced a series of outdoor theatre performances in conjunction with Heartbreak Productions .
Performed outside in the open air , MacHamLear is a farcical piece of new writing from awardwinning playwright Michael Davies that shamelessly exploits the genius of England ’ s most celebrated writer .
OPERATIC TENOR NICKY SPENCE CONFIRMED FOR LEEDS CASTLE CONCERT
Performances begin at 7pm on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June , with further shows scheduled for August . Adult tickets are £ 16.50 , child tickets £ 12 , with family tickets available for £ 52 . Taking place at Nine Oaks Vineyard , Hotfield , TN26 1EL . The vineyard ’ s new rosé and chardonnay will be available for purchase .
An artist of great integrity and known for his vocal and physical stature and charisma , Scottish tenor Nicky Spence is the latest act announced for Kent ’ s must-visit classical music spectacular .
Added to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra ’ s lineup , Spence will bring his unique skills as a singing actor alongside the raw honesty in his musicianship , both of which have earned him a place at the top of the music profession .
Commenting on the announcement , Spence said : “ I am so excited to join you all at Leeds Castle again this July . It really is the highlight of my summer to see you all amongst such a classy orchestra and so many unforgettable musical treats .”
The concert held in the grounds of Leeds Castle provides a sensory overload of live music , fireworks and a Spitfire flyover , and takes place on Saturday 8 July 2023 .
