HAPPY GLAMPERS CONT .
Being within such close proximity to Canterbury , your days can be spent wandering the cobbled streets of the walled city and uncovering its significant history . A good way to get your bearings , while learning a thing or two would be to book on one of the Canterbury Guided Tours . The 90-minute walking tours include access to Canterbury Cathedral ’ s precincts and are available daily - they also offer private tours for smaller groups when required . For those who fancy learning in a slightly alternative way , you should consider taking to the River Stour in a classic hand-built punt with Canterbury Punting Co . The tours , typically taking 40-50 minutes , are a great way to see the city and are relaxing and fun for everyone . If the weather is on your side , pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on the banks of the river in the Westgate Gardens which is in fact one of England ’ s oldest parks . Pay a visit to St Augustine ' s Abbey , an English heritage property located just outside the city walls . It is home to the remains of the Abbey founded by St Augustine in 597 . For those interested in cultural pursuits , you should also plan to stop by the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge and uncover this part museum , library and art gallery .
If you fancy something a little more rural , plenty of areas close to the campsite are perfect for enjoying the great outdoors . Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve is right on the doorstep and a genuine wildlife hotspot ; follow the trails and take in the breathtaking surroundings inhabited by many beautiful bird species . Finish the day with a threecourse meal at lovely country pub , The Grove Ferry Inn , located on the banks of the River Stour , before heading back to sink into your welcoming king-size bed .
