Often home for an array of baking goods , condiments , dried pulses and lunchbox snacks , but also a space not reaching its full potential , it ' s essential to remember that building a pantry that lends a hand to your day-to-day routine is worth putting some effort into . From the cereal the little ones have every morning to the protein bar you grab every week before your gym class , it ' s all about making the standard practices in life that little bit easier .
Presenting our ingredients clearly not only aids the workings of our kitchens and contributes to a tidy mind , but also creates a visually pleasing area that may even inspire our cooking . With items often succumbing to the dark depths of our cupboards , swiftly forgotten and only found too late , we can get stuck in a rut with our recipes . So , not only are we clearing our spaces , but may be welcoming some other benefits too .
A fresh start …
In true spring clean style we are starting from the top . Pulling everything out ( yes , everything ), accessing our stock and starting again . Enjoy discovering forgotten treasures and politely discarding ones past their best . Checking the dates of canned foods , cereals and spices - the prime suspects for the depths of our cupboards - with any still in their best before and unused but no longer wanted making perfect candidates for local food banks . Taking the opportunity to clean top to bottom , disinfecting all surfaces , surviving containers and packaging , all in preparation for a whole new beginning .
