Gill Ashington is a citizen photographer based in Deal . She came to photography during sick leave from her job in the NHS , while she was undergoing neurological investigations . This exhibition is a celebration of Gill ’ s work and explores the ways in which photography has brought art into everyday life for her and given her a voice to express her thoughts and feelings . As well as documenting the daily rituals of life and seeing them from new perspectives , Gill has captured portraits of her beloved companion : her dog , Rocky .

In summer 2022 , European bison were introduced to West Blean and Thornden Woods as part of the groundbreaking Wilder Blean project , and Iron Age pigs , Exmoor ponies and Longhorn cattle joined them early in 2023 . Join this safari to hear about how the animals will manage the land naturally , including the specific habits and characteristics of each of the species that led to them being chosen for the project . As you explore the woodland , your guide will be on hand to answer any questions and to point out some of the seasonal wildlife , such as wood ants and heath fritillary caterpillars or butterflies that have all been abundant here for much longer than the latest additions .
As the animals are free to roam , there is no guarantee of animal sightings . Safaris last 2.5 - 3 hours , most of it walking in often muddy conditions , so please ensure you have appropriate footwear and clothing .
