Chartwell ’ s pretty walled garden is home to the sweetly named ‘ stepover ’ apple trees with branches adorned in blossom that grows down towards the ground . After moving to Chartwell , the orchard was one of the first areas that Churchill chose to revamp , having fruit trees planted by the building which would later become his art studio . From late April to mid-May , the apple trees are covered with pink and white blossoms - Lady Churchill ’ s beloved colour scheme , still evident today . One apple blossom to watch out for is the ‘ Malus Arthur Turner ’, with bright pink blooms , it is adored for its showy displays every spring .

From late April to May , cherry blossoms begin to decorate this garden in an awesome array . The goats in the care of Buttercups come to the sanctuary for a multitude of different reasons but are mostly rescued goats in need of more space and the company of other goats , as they are highly social animals .
