The week-long celebration runs from 28 June to 4 July 2023 and offers a diverse programme of events open to all . Highlights include :
MUSIC AND THEATRE
June 28 – The Jess Gillam Ensemble in concert . Now an international star , Jess with her eight-piece ensemble will perform an explosive showcase of the diversity , dynamism and versatility of the saxophone .
July 1 - The Counterfeit Stones for a night of rock ‘ n ’ roll packed with big hits , retro fashion , vintage guitars , and a huge dollop of Spinal Tap humour !
July 2 - Sunday Swing with Ronnie Scott ’ s favourites , The Ray Gelato Giants , in the Festival Marquee . A Sunday afternoon for all the family to enjoy and check out the swing dance workshop in the morning to get you in the mood .
July 3 - Sing ! Workshops with Mark De-Lisser from the BAFTA nominated BBC ' s Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure . Get your ticket to be one of the 300 voices who will come together to perform in the St Edmund ’ s Theatre .
July 4 – Icons ! A spectacular finale show to close the festival that pays tribute to some of the most iconic music legends .
ART
June 28 - The St Edmund ’ s Art & Design Exhibition and presentation of the 2023 Canterbury Art Prize .
July 1 - Japanese bookbinding workshop with Canterbury artist , Esther Miles .
SPORT
July 1 – Open tennis doubles tournament for adults and kids age 11 +.
July 1 – Football Fest with Chelsea ’ s Foundation Development team for ages 6 – 11 .
Other events include Festival Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral , Dragon ’ s Lair with Mark Wong of Impossibrew , Grimm ’ s Fairy Tales , lunchtime concert in St Edmund ’ s Chapel , and an art workshop with Kevin Dalton Johnson .
The venue for all events ( except Evensong ) is St Edmund ’ s School offering an intimate 400-seat theatre and Festival Marquee in their beautiful grounds – all with free parking !
