JOIN HEART OF KENT HOSPICE FOR THE ANNUAL BLUEBELL WALK
Heart of Kent Hospice are calling on participants to join them on their six-mile charity Bluebell Walk on Sunday 30 April 2023 .
The walk , which starts at Harrietsham Village Hall , is an easy way to help Heart of Kent Hospice raise vital funds to meet the cost of providing free , compassionate , end-of-life care to people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones .
Head of community partnership at Heart of Kent Hospice , Sarah Bowes said : “ The Bluebell Walk is such a special way to remember loved ones and celebrate the care they received from the Hospice , while raising funds to enable us to continue to provide outstanding care to the growing number of local people that need us now and in the future .
“ One of our supporters describes her walk perfectly when she said ‘ I loved the Bluebell Walk , the sunshine , the peacefulness and the bird song . What a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning , there is no better way to reflect and remember .’”

To mark International Women ’ s Day last month , resident Annie Hardy ( 103 ) at RMBI Care Co . home , Prince George Duke of Kent Court in Chislehurst , recalled her own hardships in life and urged today ’ s generation to work hard and remain debt free .
Annie , who was born on 16 June 1919 in Rotherhithe , told tales of moving to the safety of relatives in Wales when the Second World War broke out , before returning to London to take her chances , working in a munitions factory making bombs for the British army . When the war was over , Annie worked in the print and bookbinding industry until she retired almost 40 years ago .
To celebrate her eventful life , the staff at Prince George Duke of Kent Court , where she has lived for five years , kindly arranged a trip to London for her , where she had the opportunity to enjoy pie and mash at Manze ’ s , in Deptford , one of the last few original pie and mash shops left , which Annie used to visit when she was a child , back in the 1920s .
Despite the hardships in her life , Annie will turn 104 in June and her face is always bright with a smile . How does she do it ? “ My secret to a long life ,” she revealed “ is good homecooked food , keeping busy , working hard … and no debts !”
