EXCELLENCE IS EVERYWHERE AT ST FAITH ’ S PREP
IN THE WORDS OF OUR RECENT INSPECTION REPORT , ‘ AT ST FAITH ’ S PREP , EXCELLENCE IS EVERYWHERE ’.
It all begins in the Nursery , where our experienced staff encourage curiosity and confidence building . The children develop friendships and learn skills such as sharing , and to have fun playing with early phonics , mark making and reading , not to mention specialist teaching in music , French and sport .
As our children move through to the main school , our teaching staff ’ s enthusiasm and passion delivers engaging , exciting lessons , with our small class sizes ( never exceeding 18 children ) meaning that each child has more of the teacher ’ s time and attention than in most schools . Every child at St Faith ’ s receives a bespoke education , and will leave us as a confident young learner , ready for their next destination .
Our children all learn German , French and Spanish during their time with us , as well as coding in IT from Year 2 . As for Music at St Faith ’ s , excellent might not be a strong enough adjective ! Every child plays an instrument and by the end of Year 6 they will all have an understanding of sheet music . Our team of peripatetic music teachers deliver hundreds of individual lessons each week , and a number of our children attain Grade 5 and beyond by the time they leave us aged 11 .
STEAM ( Science , Technology , Engineering , Art & Mathematics ) is Outstanding at St Faith ’ s . With a STEAM day each term , focused around the UN ’ s Global Goals , the children work in teams of mixed year groups to solve real world problems , such as building flood proof houses and extracting water from the ground using wind power . Our recent Science Spectacular involved a team of scientists from a global pharmaceuticals company joining us to deliver an array of educational experiments . The imminent arrival of 12 brand-new SPIKE Prime robots will enrich our computing , science and STEAM curriculum , and allow us the opportunity to enter teams into regional First Lego League competitions .
Our sports teams play to a very high standard , and we are fairly unique in that our teams play against both independent and state schools . From the Upper Nursery onwards , our children swim in the heated , salt water school pool as part of their sports lessons , and 13 different sports are taught here .
Wander past the playing fields and the brand-new sports hall that is currently under construction and you happen across our Nature Garden . Excited children explore the depths of the pond with nets and buckets , while the vegetables they are lovingly cultivating poke their heads through the soil , and the bug hotel bustles with guests !
However , nowhere is excellence more evident than in our children . Wearing their purple and gold with pride , St Faith ’ s children are happy , polite and successful . Success is specific to the individual , and we believe in recognising and celebrating achievement in all its many forms . From the Kent Test ( over 94 % of our current Year 6 pupils are eligible for a grammar school place ), to sports awards , music , drama , public speaking , Lego robotics and so much more , there is space here for every child to shine .
