NOW A PUBLISHED AUTHOR OF FUNNY AND HEARTWARMING CONTEMPORARY ROMANCES SET IN FICTIONAL VILLAGES IN KENT , KATIE HERSELF LIVES IN A KENTISH SEASIDE TOWN , SPENDING TIME BETWEEN WRITING , HER CHILDREN AND WALKING HER TWO DOGS . HER FIRST BOOK AS ANNABEL , SUMMER AT THE CHATEAU , WILL COME OUT IN JUNE 2023 .
How did you get into writing and why ?
I started writing after I was made redundant and took a creative writing course with the London School of Journalism . It turned out I wasn ’ t too bad at it and once I ’ d started , I couldn ’ t stop ! I was lucky enough to land a two-book deal with HQ Digital / HarperCollins in January 2018 and my Annabel French books will be published by Avon / HarperCollins .
You live in a Kentish seaside town , what do you like most about living in Kent ?
Living by the sea is the most wonderful thing , especially in summer , but I also love the fields and woodlands . We ’ re so lucky in Kent to have both pretty rural villages and beautiful seaside towns .
Does Kent inspire you when it comes to writing ?
Kent has inspired the settings of all the books I ’ ve written under my name ! In my debut novel , The Little Theatre on the Seafront , the fictional town of Greenley is a mix of Deal and Folkestone and in subsequent books , I ’ ve drawn inspiration from lovely little villages like Elham and Chilham . There ’ s always a source of inspiration somewhere and I love an excuse to go out and research ! I tend to use fictional place names so I can set it up how I need it , but everywhere I ’ ve written has a starting point in a Kent location .

My books are available on Amazon and with Waterstones , but do ask your local indie bookshop and they can order them for you .
